Student Workshop Approaching, Submit Abstracts NOW!

The student workshop is confirmed for Thursday the 6th of May. This year it’s being held in conjunction with UCLA, and is always a great place to present new work, get good feedback on old work or practice for upcoming conference talks.

Abstract submission is still open, send your abstracts here asap if you’d like to present.

GSIL Meeting Time

The next GSIL meeting will be held this Thursday in the conference room at 5pm.

Currently on the agenda are the elections for the new officers for next year. Any nominations or additional agenda items should be sent here by 4pm Wednesday (that’s tomorrow).

As per normal there will be food.

Open House Next Week!

Those of us who are currently living under rocks might be interested to know that the annual open house for prospective students is next week, with events starting on Tuesday, March 9th.

You can find the schedule here, and if you’ve got a bit of spare time and/or a car you can sign up for the few remaining airport pickups/dropoffs, or just volunteer to help out.

WCCFL Tomorrow!

As you hopefully already know we are hosting the 28th West Coast Conference on Formal Linguistics, which kicks off tomorrow with opening remarks in MHP101 at 8:50 tomorrow morning.

If you haven’t already registered, registration is $25 for students, $50 for non-students. Regardless of whether you pre-registered or not, you should stop by the registration desk in MHP tomorrow morning to pick up your conference materials (and register, of course, if you haven’t already).

Welcome Back

The Spring semester has officially begun (as of Monday actually). Welcome back to everyone, here’s to a productive semester.

It has been pointed out that this site has had a dearth of updates, so any news or info that might be useful to people should be sent to me and I’ll post them as they come. Additionally, the student list is in need of updating. Given university changes I’m considering just sending the student list to redirect to the department page (which is also a bit funky), but would like to hear what people think.

You can comment on posts now, by the way. The link is in the upper left corner of the post (which typically says “No Comments”). You’ll need to register and log in to comment, this is annoying but necessary to prevent the bot-hordes of the interwebs from invading.
